The title "Sandbox" derives from the safe environment built during computer programming that blocks destructive accidents and potential risks. The work opens with the pictographic character "人" (person) composed of countless Chinese characters, then presents the process of building civilization through animation and sound. Civilization is a term invented by humans — tracing back to origins, from individuals to partners, communities, races, to founding nations, humans use writing and language to communicate, record history, and accumulate wisdom. Civilization is often understood as building great cities or advancing technology. The work proposes a possible line of thinking: if civilization could be rebuilt from scratch, would there be other possibilities?
